STREET TREES AUDIT: Much remains to be done to improve the local green environment through the provision of more street trees and the maintenance of those which already form part of the highway fringes. I have succeeded in arguing this case with the Highway Authority and money is being now set aside for proper tree audits to be introduced across the Borough of Maidstone and for a schedule of maintenance to be implemented from next year.

Thus is a first-class project, and I am pleased to be able to give it encouragement by providing the pump-priming money from my County Council Members Grant".
