County Councillor Trudy Dean for Malling CentralWelcome to my webpage, where I will keep you informed of the work for the residents of Malling Central in Tonbridge & Malling
I was first elected to Kent County Council: May 1985 I am KCC Liberal Democrat Group Leader, Lib Dem Group Corporate, Governance & Audit and Selection Spokesperson and a Lib Dem Representative on Kent (and Medway) Fire Authority. I am the Lib Dem Member for the following committees: Corporate Policy Overview Committee, Cabinet Scrutiny Committee Governance and Audit Committee Selection Committee Kent & Medway Fire & Rescue Authority (Authority, Audit & Governance Committee and Planning & Performance Committee) Tonbridge & Malling Joint Transportation Board I am West Malling Parish Council - Chairman and I attend the East Malling & Larkfield Parish Council as the local County Councillor. I am the Chairman of the Malling Action Partnership (MAP) This section will include items in relation to my role of Leader of the KCC Lib Dem Group. Kent TV - Political Balance Letter to the Editor of the Kent Messenger (14.11.07) Dear Sir. I am indebted to Paul Francis (KM Off the Record 09.11.07) for taking up the cause, in the interests of political balance, of the Liberal Democrats' absence from Kent TV. The position is that Kent TV have invited me, very belatedly, to do a first interview, compared to several with Tory Leader Paul Carter. Since these head and shoulders interviews are very boring, I asked to do the piece by interviews with several Kent residents on location instead. Kent TV said they couldn't afford this kind of filming so I offered to get the filming done myself for Kent TV to approve. They refuse to change the format, insisting that political balance must be achieved by us all being equally cheap and boring! Not quite the go-ahead, exciting, leading edge, Rolling Stone type pzazz we were led to expect is it? But where do I go to complain? Kent TV was created on broadband specifically to avoid legislation which makes it illegal for a Local Council to buy a TV channel, and ensures political balance in broadcasting. The Board, which has yet to meet, is chaired by Mr Carter's Chief Executive Peter Gilroy, who will have to decide whether he wants a fair channel or whether he is to be His Master's Voice. For the £1.3 million income earned from increased charges for Home Care to the elderly and vulnerable, Mr Carter has bought himself his own private TV channel. No doubt he considers it a bargain at the price. As the elected Lib Dem County Councillor for Malling Central, my aims are: - this section is under construction. All parts of my Division can receive grant aid from my annual local members grant of £10,000.
