Who can apply?

Applications are welcome from all types of organisations and groups. However, the application must come from an organisation or a group with a current bank account.

Applications are not accepted from individuals (for example for personal sponsorship) or from party political groups.

Applications will be considered from religious groups, but the application must show that the project will bring wider community benefit.

What can I apply for?

These KCC Member Community Grant is for support to local community projects that meet Kent County Councils overall objectives.

You should discuss your application with your local County Councillor before sending it.

The following points are important. Please read them carefully:

Your project must come into one or more of the following categories:

- Projects to promote and support the development of young people in our communities

- Projects to help Kents most vulnerable adults and older people to live independently

- Projects to promote activities which encourage and celebrate cultural diversity and participation in the civic life of Kent

- Projects to encourage active participation in local community life

- Projects to help make Kent a safer County

- Projects for Kents physical environment

All grants from this fund are one-off and, for one year only. If your project will continue over a longer period, you will need to show in your application that you have plans to cover future costs.

Your project must be ready to start in the current financial year (between now and the end of March 2008). KCC do not fund projects which have already begun.

This fund must not be used to replace any other funding you may currently get from KCC.

Any grant you receive will be specifically for the project described in your application. It must not be used for any other purpose.

When you apply, it is important that you describe the community benefit your project will bring. The benefit must be for local communities in the Kent County Council area.

KCC do not require that your project has funding from other sources too (eg matched funding), but if it will, you must show this in your application. This helps KCC to understand the size and scope of your project.

If your project needs planning permission, you must obtain this before you apply for this grant.

You can apply up until the end of February 2008. If your application comes in later than this, KCC may defer it to the next financial year, but cannot guarantee this.

KCC will only consider your application if you have provided answers to all of the questions on the application form, and have given enough information to understand your project. For an application form please contact your local Community Liaison Manager:
