I am sure the residents of Eccles will be celebrating again

Geoff Rowe (Lib Dem) County Council Member for Malling Rural North East has received the great news this morning that Southern Water has withdrawn their appeal to expand their waste water recycling plant in Eccles.

Geoff says "The expansion, would have attracted an additional 124 large tanker movements per day along this small country road. It would have totally destroyed the quality of life of Eccles residents".

Last September KCC Planning Applications Committee, against officer advice, refused to grant permission for this expansion.

"This is a real victory for the local community who has campaigned so vigorously to achieve this result. I am sure the residents of Eccles will be celebrating again". (Geoff says)

Word of caution - Southern Water have permitted development rights for this site, which haven't been exploited. Geoff has asked KCC officers to provide him with a list- so that the residents of Eccles can be informed and help with monitoring any future planned developments.

'A Personal Thank You To The Residents Of Eccles! Geoff's press release following the refusal of the original planning application (12.09.07) is available on this website
